The Shiner brand has earned its place as the leading craft beer in the state of Texas, and drinkers are willing to pay a premium because of the equity it has built over time. But national beer brands selling lower-priced beer were taking over Texas and Shiner needed a way to compete in the domestic marker without sacrificing their craft equity.

So we created Texas Special, a simple, no frills beer intended to take back Texas at a domestic price point.

With every foreign beer brand making big claims, we realized folks in our home state just wanted somthin’ uncomplicated to appreciate what beer is really for: good times with good people.
